ACE Energy, a consortium sponsored by ACCIONA, Cobra and Endeavour Energy’s investors, is pleased to announce that following a competitive process, it has been selected by the NSW Government (EnergyCo) as the first ranked proponent as Network Operator for the Central-West Orana (CWO) Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

The CWO REZ covers approximately 20,000 square kilometres centred by Dubbo and Dunedoo, on the land of the Wiradjuri, Wailwan and Kamilaroi people. As New South Wales’ first renewable energy zone, it will be serviced by new transmission network infrastructure, including high-capacity transmission lines and energy hubs, which will transfer power generated by solar and wind farms to electricity consumers. This infrastructure will be critical for the successful operation of the REZ and will initially unlock at least three gigawatts of new transmission capacity within the next decade.

EnergyCo is leading the development of the REZ transmission network infrastructure in its capacity as the Infrastructure Planner for the REZs in NSW.

ACE Energy will now work closely with EnergyCo to finalise and enter into a Commitment Deed in Q3 2023. Until that time, EnergyCo reserves the right to recommence discussions with the second ranked proponent if EnergyCo considers it appropriate to do so.
